Black and Decker has a few clothes iron models on the market and it is a popular brand due to its affordability. Most of their irons cost around $30 to $4o while you can get their basic models for about $20. So, it is a very economical buy compared to Rowenta irons. Furthermore, many people prefer cheaper steam irons these days because of the tendency of leaks and defects which render them unusable after a short period of time. Buyers are less willing to take the risk to buy a high-end steam iron only to have to replace it within months.  Therefore, we should check out a few popular Black and Decker iron reviews to see if we can find one that meets our needs at a reasonable cost.

Black and Decker Iron Reviews Of Popular Models

Black and Decker Digital Advantage Professional Steam Iron

Black Decker D2030 Digital Iron

Let’s take a look at the features of this model first:

  • 1500-watt
  • Stainless steel soleplate
  • Digital temperature control
  • Steam blast
  • Variable temperature and steam controls
  • Auto shut-off
  • Anti-drip
  • Auto clean

The summary of pros and cons of the Black and Decker Digital Advantage Professional Steam Iron model no. D2030 are:

Pros Cons
Right weightHard to see water level
Good steam outputFading digital display
Smooth soleplateSteam dial easily moved
Reaches temperature quicklyLeaks

This model weighs about 3 lbs. It is neither too heavy that it becomes tiring to use nor is it too light that it is hard to get rid of wrinkles. That is why many users are happy with the weight of the Black and Decker D2030. The steam output is generous enough to make ironing easy and the stainless steel soleplate heats up fast for a smooth glide across the fabric.

The complaints are centered around the dark plastic that makes it hard to read the water level inside the tank. While a digital control offers greater precision, the drawback is that the LCD display screen can fade over time. The steam dial moves a little too easily too. A slight knock of your fingers as you grip the handle is enough to make it move away from your intended setting.

There are complaints of leaks and heat-up failures. We can’t avoid that for any of the steam irons. The key is how frequent are these complaints and do they dominate the review section of retailers’ websites. As far as I can see from the Black and Decker iron reviews online from thousands of buyers, the verdict is overwhelmingly positive. It has been this way for quite some time and it remains as one of the best steam irons on the market for its reasonable pricing given its quality.

Black And Decker Allure Digital Steam Iron

Black and Decker Allure Steam Iron

The features of the Allure digital model no. D3030 are:

  • 1600-watt
  • Stainless steel soleplate
  • Dynamic steam technology
  • Digital LED display
  • Steam burst
  • Variable temperature and steam controls
  • Auto shut-off
  • Anti-drip
  • Auto clean system

The pros and cons include:

ProsCons
Large water tankView of display screen blocked
Good steam outputDark water tank
Steam lever at the topDifficult to refill
Smooth soleplateLeaks

The Black and Decker D3030 is also a digital steam iron but it has slight differences with the D2030 above. The D3030 has the display screen under the handle but the steam lever is now at the top. So, you won’t accidentally knock it and change the steam settings but the drawback now is that the view of the display screen is blocked by the handle and your hand. Some users find it cumbersome when they need to change the fabric settings.

The other selling point is that the Black and Decker Allure has a large water tank and emits 30% more steam than some models with its dynamic steam technology. It can fill over 12 fl oz of water which is comparable to the Rowenta Pro Master Iron. On the flipside, the plastic tank is dark which makes it hard to see the water level. Moreover, refilling the tank requires you to lay the iron horizontally on its soleplate. Usually, you will rest the iron on its heel during refilling.

Again, complaints of leaks and failure to heat up are present in this Black and Decker iron reviews on various retailers’ websites. Some buyers questioned its durability although it is a great iron when it works. But the price is reasonable which lowers a lot of expectations compared to the best Rowenta irons. Generally, most people are happy with the Allure steam iron notwithstanding the leaks and malfunctions that occur for a smaller group of buyers.

Black And Decker Impact Advanced Steam Iron

Black and Decker Impact Advanced Steam Iron

The features of this model no. IR3010 are:

  • 1500-watt
  • Stainless steel soleplate
  • Maximum durability
  • Burst of steam
  • Separate temperature and steam controls
  • Auto shut-off
  • Anti-drip
  • Auto clean

For this Black and Decker iron review, the pros and cons found for this particular model include:

ProsCons
Designed to withstand fallsSpray button is below the handle
Good weightNo fabric indicator on temperature dial
Steams wellShort lifespan
Narrow tipLeaks

The main selling point that differentiates this iron from its competitors is its maximum durability feature. The IR3010 is designed to withstand falls from a height of 4 feet. Since it is not uncommon for us to accidentally knock our clothes iron off the ironing board, it is a plus to have one that is engineered to withstand impacts. So, it does feel like a solid iron with good weight and steam output to quickly get rid of wrinkles on your clothes. In fact, some users might even find it to be a tad heavy at more than 3 lbs.

However, the ratings and customer reviews for the Black and Decker Impact Advanced Steam Iron do not particularly inspire confidence at the time of writing. There is a significant number of complaints regarding its durability whereby it refuses to heat up after a very short usage period. Other drawbacks include the odd position of the spray button which is underneath the handle when it is normally located at the top and the lack of explanation on the temperature dial. The dial consists of numbers only and you will need to check the chart which is near the base of the iron to find out which number corresponds to which fabric type.

Which Black And Decker Iron To Buy

The Black and Decker Impact Advanced Steam Iron has a good concept but unfortunately, it does not have as good a rating as the Digital Advantage and Allure models. To me, the latter 2 irons would be a safer bet.

Any Great Deals For Black And Decker Irons? Find Out Now:

The Black and Decker iron reviews for the Digital Advantage D2030 run into thousands on Amazon whereby many buyers have left their compliments as well as complaints. But it has maintained a higher than average rating throughout and it remains on the bestseller list. The reasonable price helps and so does the quality vis-a-vis the price. The Allure is harder to refill which loses out to the Digital Advantage model. But it has a standard version without the digital controls for those who prefer a temperature dial rather than an LCD screen.
